A slow site costs you in quiet ways. Visitors leave before the page finishes loading. Forms feel laggy on phones. Search engines take page experience into account. And your team stops trusting the site enough to add new content.

Most WordPress speed advice starts with “install this plugin.” We start by finding out where the time is going. Our WordPress speed optimization work begins with a performance review: a careful look at your pages, plugins, theme, database and hosting, followed by a ranked list of fixes. It is for marketing teams with a sluggish site, store owners with slow checkouts, and developers who want a second opinion.

What’s included

  • Core Web Vitals analysis using field data from real visitors where available. Google’s Core Web Vitals are LCP for loading, INP for responsiveness and CLS for visual stability.
  • Lab testing of key templates on mobile and desktop to find render-blocking files, large images and heavy scripts.
  • Server response review, including TTFB, caching behavior and PHP settings.
  • Plugin and theme profiling to find which code adds the most time to each request.
  • Database and query analysis, including slow queries and bloated options that load on every page.
  • Front-end review of images, fonts, CSS, JavaScript and third-party tags.
  • Hosting fit check to see whether your plan matches your traffic.

How it works

  1. Assess. We look at the site and agree on the key pages and user flows to review.
  2. Fixed quote. You receive a fixed price for the review.
  3. Measure. We collect field data, run lab tests and profile the server side.
  4. Analyze. We trace each slow metric back to its cause, whether that is a plugin, the theme, a query or the host.
  5. Report. We rank fixes by impact and effort, and walk your team through them.
  6. Fix (optional). We can make the changes under a separate fixed quote and measure the results.

Our pillar guide on Core Web Vitals for WordPress explains each metric, and why your WordPress site is slow shows the order in which we diagnose problems.

What you get

  • A baseline of Core Web Vitals, page weight and server response times for your key pages.
  • A ranked list of fixes with the expected impact, effort and risk of each one.
  • Specific recommendations for plugins to remove or replace, theme changes, image and font handling, and caching rules.
  • Server and database findings, with notes on whether server tuning would help.
  • A plain-language summary for decision makers, so the people who approve the work understand why it matters.

Why Verma IT

Speed is one of the six measures of technical debt we track. Like the others, it can be measured, so we measure it, fix the biggest problems first, and keep checking it so it does not slip back. That is why our report gives you numbers, not just opinions.

Our founder, Ajay Verma, has been writing WordPress code since 2010 and is a WordPress core contributor. We read the plugin and theme code behind a slow request, rather than only looking at a scanner score. We also use Docker and Playwright to test changes on copies of your site, so a speed fix does not quietly break a form or a checkout.

Sometimes the cause is the database. Our guide to cleaning up a bloated WordPress database covers one of the most common problems we find.

Frequently asked questions

What are Core Web Vitals?
They are three measures Google uses to judge page experience: Largest Contentful Paint for loading, Interaction to Next Paint for responsiveness, and Cumulative Layout Shift for visual stability.
Will a caching plugin fix my slow site?
Caching helps, but it often hides the real problem instead of fixing it. Logged-in users, carts and search pages usually skip the cache. We find the cause first, then decide if caching is part of the answer.
Do you only give recommendations, or do you fix things too?
Both. The review gives you a ranked list of fixes. Your developers can work through it, or we can make the changes for you under a separate fixed quote.
How long does a performance review take?
Most reviews take about one to two weeks, depending on the size of the site. Part of that time is collecting real data before we make recommendations.
How much does a performance review cost?
We look at your site first and give you a fixed quote for the review. Any follow-up work is quoted separately.
